Thanks to @allrecipes for this recipe
INGREDIENTS:
* Unsalted butter
* 2 cups of white sugar
* 3/4 cups of water
* 1/2 cup of light corn syrup
* 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring. (Any color is optional)
* 6 medium apples ( red or green as preferred)
INSTRUCTIONS
* Let's start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and cover the sheet with the unsalted butter and set aside for a few minutes.
* In a medium heavy bottomed saucepan, combine the white sugar, 3/4 cups of water, corn syrup and the preferred food coloring you choice. Bring to boil over high heat and reduce the heat to medium high. Insert a candy thermometer and continue to boil for about 15 minutes or until the temperature reaches about 300-315 degrees Fahrenheit.
*In the meantime, you can start inserting the wooden sticks into the top of each of the apples. Push the wooden sticks about halfway through and set the apples aside.
* When the mixture has reached temperature, immediately remove it from heat. ( we dint want the syrup to burn)
. Working rapidly, dip the apples into the sugar mixture until its completely coated. Then transfer it to the baking sheet.
*Allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes.
NOTE: When dipping the apples to the sugar mixture after you can dip into cashew, sprinkles, m&ms etc.
