Rice pudding #homemade





Believe it or not rice pudding was thought to have originated in China. Alot of countries just like Dominican republic, Spain, England, el Salvador, India and many countries in central Africa have argue that rice pudding originated from there countries as an ancient rice culture as well as an ancient sugar culture.

INGREDIENTS:

* 6 cups warm water, divided
* 1 cup long-grain rice
* 2 (4-inch) cinnamon sticks, plus 8 extra for garnish
* 12 whole cloves
* 2 star anise
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 can (12 fluid ounces) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Lowfat 2% Milk
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 1/4 cup raisins
* 2 tablespoons butter
* Ground nutmeg for garnish

Instructions:

* Combine 2 cups water, rice, 2 cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise in a large saucepan. Let soak for at least 1 hour.
*Place saucepan over medium heat; add remaining 4 cups water and salt. Boil for 2 minutes. Discard cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise.
*Reduce heat to low; add evaporated milk, sugar and raisins. Cook for about 10 minutes or until mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
*Stir in butter; cover and let cool.
*Serve garnished with ground nutmeg and 8 remaining cinnamon sticks.
