Ham With Pineapple #homemade

Fun fact. For Thanksgiving of #2019 I had this ham seasoned, decorated and seating on my refrigerator five days prior to Thanksgiven day. I wanted to make sure that the ham would absorve all the juices and I wasnt going to have a dry ham. Personally I'm not a ham person but I really wanted to make a traditional classic Thanksgiving dish that the whole family would enjoy. Because I had this ham seating in the refrigerator for five days prior to Thanksgiving day on the actual baking day I had to add an extra can of pineapple juice since the ham had observed the prior juices.

Thanks to @allrecipes for this amazing recipe

INGREDIENTS
* 1 (12pound) smoked ham
* 1/2 cup whole cloves
* 1 ( 20ounce) can of pineapple rings in heavy syrup
* 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle lemon juice flavored carbonated beverage ( but it's not mandatory)
* 1 (4 ounce) jar chopped maraschino cherries.
Instructions
* preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit which is about 160 degrees  Celsius.
*  Place ham in a roasting pan. Score the rind of the ham with a diamond pattern. Press a clove into the center of each diamond. Drain the juice from the pineapple  rings into a medium bowl, and stir in the brown sugar and if you want you may add the lemon juice. Coat the ham with this mixture. Arrange the pineapple  rings over the outside of the ham. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple ring, and secure with a toothpick.
* Bake uncovered for 4 or 5 hours, basting frequently with the juice, until the internal temperature of the ham is 160 degrees Fahrenheit which is abut 72 degrees Celsius.

Extra Note:
* Be sure  the meat thermometer  is not touching the bone and remove the toothpicks before serving.
* Some people may like to add honey or mustard to the season the ham and some people cider vinegar but I'm not much of a fan.
